In almost two weeks time it marks one year since I left London for about 6 months. I had never been on a big journey like that before. Now, when I close my eyes and think of the days before my departure, I can fully reconnect with the feeling of trepidation and excitement spreading across every corner of my body. The anticipation of stepping into a new environment, with new challenges, inspirations and lessons.
I decided to combine my travelling in South East Asia and India with my studies in massage and bodywork. However, as I got further into my travelling, I simply realised that every day was a valuable lesson about myself. Tuning in more with my body, energies, desires, and fears was what truly put the foundation to become the practitioner I am today.
If you are reading this and you’ve received a massage by me, you’ve probably already heard me saying that this profession requires me to be extremely present and centred within myself.
In order to connect with someone else body, I have to be in tuned with my own first.
I believe one of the biggest take-aways from my trip was indeed finding again that level of presence in order to listen to my inner self again.
I had planned to spend my first week in India learning Thai Yoga massage in a retreat school nestled in the Goan jungle. after 7 days, I left that place with much more than just a new massage skill.
Days were filled with cups of masala chai, colourful meals, incense sticks, sweaty yoga practices, conversations where we look at each other in the eyes. No avoidance.
I didn’t remember when it was the last time I got to eat properly my food, the same time every day, sleep deep and long during the night, do some movement every day. I felt so nourished by simply giving my body basic needs I’d be de-prioritising for way too long.
How can basic nourishment live in the shadows of long work hours, saying yes to everything, over socialising?
This question, paradox of our modern society, gave me even more motivation to create tocco studio. With my massage practice I aim to create a space where the body can stop, restore & reset. No guilt.
If you feel you need that reset, you’re in the right place. tocco studio helps, but it’s your body doing the magic.
Love,
Arianna
